Text that I can't move or delete

Just had a strange thing happen: I typed “Sign out” as a line. It became gray. And I cannot delete it or move it. It’s just stuck in the middle of my outline.

How can I delete this?

Duh, I should have tried that, of course. But after being away from it for about a half-hour, I could not find the strange gray text saying “Sign out.” It had vanished.

I will try to remember that refreshing the page is often a first-thing-to-try for some issues.
