Given the Checkvist is the outliner for geeks, it seems wrong to click a button to open the sidebar in Firefox (View > Sidebar > Checkvist).
Do y’all have a hotkey for this?

No, we don’t. Probably not very hard to add, have to look into the API.
But the question is also which keyboard shortcut to choose for that, as always in such cases
