Search results only returning 50 records

Hi,

I used to run weekly searches for tasks “in: closed due: previous week @{{name}}” but these are now only returning 50 records at most, even though searching individual dates like “in: closed due: {{yyyy-mm-dd}} @{{name}}” shows there’s actually more than 50 records.

The above applies even while switching “due:” to “updated:” and even while switching “previous week” to “previous month” – though it stops happening if I remove the “@” mention.

Hello Josh, we did some changes in search related to @user searching (to support @text search in notes). Looks like something went wrong along the way, we’ll check this and fix as soon as possible.

Sorry for the issue and thanks for writing us about it!

Hi again,

We’ve fixed the problem. Now the search should work correctly, both on beta and on production. Thank you again for writing us about it.

Hope for your searches it will work now correctly, too
Please let us know.

Kind regards,
KIR

Great! Thanks for fixing this so quickly.

The @user mention on Notes was a welcome addition, but it did introduce some issues like this one.

Another thing that seems to have been affected, which honestly is a minor gripe, is that writing an email address on a Note like user@host.tld will show it just fine but enclosing it like <user@host.tld> (which used to make the email address clickable & is also how it’s imported in the Note of a #from-email task) makes it show up like @host.tld">user@host.tld now.

And thanks again! This one is corrected, too (on beta so far).

By the way, have you tried @-mentions - are they useful for you? Or you’re working alone?

Best,

Hi,

I use Checkvist with several teammates & we’ve been trying the @user mentions, but I’m not sure yet about how useful their current implementation is.

They make the @user clickable so that the list is filtered & they allow for a new user to be invited from the @ menu, but they do not seem to generate an email (unless I’m subscribed to Recent Changes), they do not seem to make the task show up on my Due page (unless I’m already tagged on the task itself), and they do not seem to make the task show up on Search (similarly, unless I’m tagged on the task).

Hi @Josh ,

To use @username mentions in comments the following should be true:

  • You’ve invited/shared with this user the list where you add the comment
  • You have a Checkvist PRO account
  • You use proper @username completion (from the completion popup)

In this case, if you @mention the user, they should receive an e-mail with the subject “Checkvist: recent changes” and the text of the note.

Oh, and if you mention yourself, the e-mail won’t be sent unless you mark checkbox “Include notifications about my own changes” on this page.

For other users, a Spam folder might be checked as well.

Hope this helps, please let me know.

Hi,

Now I see, thanks.

It’s just that since I was already subscribed to Recent Changes on all my lists, I was not catching the difference.

I guess I was looking for something similar to the email generated when a task is assigned.

Hello @Josh ,

I.e. do I understand correctly that you expected a separate e-mail with notes-related items? Is it important or is it a matter of habit?

By the way, do you use the @-mentions with your colleagues?

Thank you,
KIR

Hi,

I thought the @-mentions would generate an email similar to the one sent when tasks are assigned.

I think it’s important because they otherwise get lost with the rest of the “recent changes” that occur.

Yes, we’ve been using them since they were introduced, but we haven’t been relying on them because of the above.

Hello @Josh ,

Thanks a lot for the explanation! We’ll see what can be done here. Hope to bring this into some next future update.

Kind regards,
KIR
