Pasting a hierarchy multiple times fails

I have a collapsed list item containing items within it. When I Command+C the item, and then Command+V, it correctly pastes the item with it’s children. However, if I immediately Command+V again, then the additional new item created is just the top item with no children. That childless paste continues for all subsequent repeated pastes.

My first simple test succeeded! Glad it was apparently not too involved! I’ll followup if I notice any unintended side effects. Thanks @maxkir !
