When I tested. The markdown style is not printed.
I made a test list with markdown. It’s OK.
The preview is OK.
But there is no highlighted in the pdf at all.
Is it intended? or bug?
and Why X is printed at the bottom?

You might want to check the printer’s settings and ensure you have enabled background printing, smth like this:
