Keyboard Shortcut Issue for "Insert Current Date" on German Keyboard

The command “Insert current date” itself works, but the keyboard shortcut “Cmd ;” does not. My guess is that this is due to the German keyboard layout. It inserts the time instead, just like the “Insert current time” command with “Cmd :”. (Both require pressing Shift.)

This issue occurs on an iPad with Safari using a German keyboard. Note that it has never worked for me, even on a Mac with a German keyboard, but I have my own global shortcuts for date and time, so I have ignored it. And keyboard issues can be awkward.

Any ideas to get date insertion work on a German keyboard?

Hello Ralf,

On the German keyboard, Cmd+ö may work to insert the current date. At least this works when I set German keyboard on Mac.

Hope this will work for you.

Kind regards,
KIR

Thanks, you are right. Cmd+ö inserts the date. The time is inserted via Cmd+Shift+, (where Shift+, is ;, so it’s also Cmd+;) and via Cmd+Shift+. (where Shift+. is :, so it’s also Cmd+:).
