As the title says, Is it possible to change the order of notes of a node?
Hello @zinoff , I’m afraid this is not possible now. I’ve converted this question into a feature request, though.
Possible workarounds:
- use sub-items as notes and re-arrange them
- put your notes into a single note and re-order text withing such a note, if needed.
Best,
KIR
This feature would be incredibly useful to me, so I also vote in favor of it. I hope it can be implemented
Hello @pmurillo ,
Thanks for your comment. Could you tell what do you use notes for, why it is important to reorder them?
Thanks,
KIR
I have two use cases where sorting notes would be important to me:
As part of my job, I have to analyze and extract key information from YouTube videos. I obtain the transcripts of the videos and paste them into a Checkvist document. When I find a paragraph with relevant information, I add notes to that paragraph because they visually stand out enough for me to easily review my annotations later. Sometimes I add several notes to a paragraph and later realize that some notes are more important than others. For that reason, I would like to sort the notes so that the most important ones are at the top.
I also use Checkvist as a task manager for software development. I have a “To do” section where I detail the tasks that a programmer I work with needs to handle. When he completes them, he moves them to a “Ready to review” section. There, I add corrections to his actions as notes. I would like to reorder the notes so that the most important corrections are at the top, and the less important correction notes are at the bottom.
Hello,
Thank you for the explanation. Unfortunately, we don’t have a possibility to reorder notes in our database structure, and adding this would be a noticeable complication.
At the same time, I noticed that your primary goal is to put some notes at the top of the list of notes. So if we would allow to show recently added notes at the top, this could partially solve this - so you could add most important note as the last one and it would appear on the top of the list of notes. Would this help somehow?
Other than that, I can suggest using sub-items instead of notes for such cases.
Kind regards,
KIR
In my use case, the chronological input order can get disrupted because some items simply appear too late. To address this, I sometimes export the task as OPML, reorder the notes, and then import them back. However, this process is inconvenient (and breaks links), especially when dealing with tasks that have many subtasks. It would be more efficient if we could export and import only the notes of a task.
The minimal modification in Checkvist to help out in this case could be an option when importing to “import as notes”. Instead of creating a single or multiple tasks, with the option enabled, it would create a single or multiple notes.
Alternatively, selecting a couple of notes, use “convert notes to tasks”, reorder the tasks with the usual Checkvist-power, select the reordered tasks, and finally use “convert tasks to notes”.
