Inherited tags as an option

Good morning,

I was wondering if we could get inherited tags as a toggleable option. The idea is that if I tag a list, everything inside that list should also be tagged with the same tag. Same with all children of a tagged parent.

Does this make any sense?

Ed

Hello Ed,

It makes sense as a description of the feature, sure. But it would be good to understand which problem you’re trying to solve with this feature?

So far I’ll move it to the Features / Ideas category.

Thanks,

Hi!

For me personally, it would just be a way of easily seeing everything that belongs to a tag without having to tag every single item.

So if I had for example the following:

Parent #awesometag

  • Child #cooltag

And I searched for #awesometag, both Parent and Child would appear in the results (Child nested under Parent). But if I searched for #cooltag, only Child would appear in the search results.

Alternatively, an option to expand/collapse each item in the search results would probably work too. I think :joy:

My brain is quite messy so sorry if this isn’t clear enough! :joy:

Do I understand correctly that a solution when global search results show the nested sub-items (on explicit expand) would work for you?

Yes, I believe that would work!

It is not a simple change. But I’ve added it to the list of Search enhancements, hopefully will do one day.

Thanks!
