Filtering an individual list with just [] returns all tasks with prefixed with [] to show a checkbox, but when I tried a global search using [] to find all items prefixed with [], nothing was found. I thought that would be a way to show “checkbox’d” tasks across all lists.

Sorry, at the moment there is no way to search for [] prefix in the global search.
As well as search for any special characters. Our search index is word-based
