Global search gets stuck on "Nothing found :-("

I think it’s a bug but I’d like someone to confirm, since global search seems to be not working at all in anonymous test mode (“Try now without registration ⏎”)

  • Go to global search.
  • Search for some word you know you have. Observe the returned results.
  • Now search for *#*#4636#*#* (I know this exact string does it for me. It’s possible any combo of those hash and/or star characters will do the same.). You’ll get “Nothing found :-(”.
  • Backspace that string and try searching again for any word that you know you have. You’ll keep getting “Nothing found :-(” no matter what you are searching for.

Hello @rubaboo ,

I’m sorry - it looks like you’ve found a bug in SphinxSearch (our underlying engine for global search). We’ll try to investigate and see what we can do about it, but this one might be tough. :disappointed:

We’ll see.

Anyway, thanks a lot for investigating and reporting it!

No worries. This is an edge case. A workaround is to go back to a list and do a search from there (double-enter). Perhaps it’s better to focus on bringing feature parity to experimental search?
