It would be nice if Checkvist had a feature that allowed one to encrypt the contents of a list, similar to the encryption feature in Evernote. I would not expect global search to index encrypted lists, but searching within a single, actively visible, decrypted list would be handy.
(Off topic: Is Checkvist open source? I’d potentially offer up a PR for this feature.)

Thanks for asking. So far, we don’t have close plans to provide encryption feature (and as you correctly noticed, its implementation for global search and some other features, like due task notifications, would be nearly impossible).
Checkvist is not open source, but there is OpenAPI.
