many times a day to create a high-priority highest-priority items into a separate list that I can then manipulate independently of the original item, or to put a single item into two categories. I would propose one minor improvement. You already have an option to “close the linked tasks, too” when I close one of the the items; but there are many times I would like to delete all the linked items (so I don’t end up with tons of closed items). Can you add a “delete the linked tasks, too” option?
Thank you, this is quite a reasonable request. I hope there will be more supporters of the idea. Unfortunately, it is not trivial to implement, so I cannot give any promises yet.
I think it is problematic to add this feature without further consideration. A specific semantics of the link is assumed (composition versus indicating a general relation). If implemented in Checkvist, I would prefer an option to enable or disable that special link semantics; that option should imply that closing and deleting propagate. However, it should behave consistently in all cases.
For example, consider task A with subtask B, where B links to another task C. If A is closed, B would be closed automatically, but that closure does not propagate to C. Conversely, if B is closed directly, the popup for the linked task appears.
What about the reverse direction? If C is closed (or if the last item within C is closed, which might close C), should that affect B?
These are my reflections. I do not use that feature myself, as deleting or archiving closed tasks are separate housekeeping actions.
