Firstly, Happy New Year! we’ve just returned from a three-generation family gathering and are happy to be back at work
Secondly, can we ask you for a bit of help?
The thing we’re working on at the moment is single sign on support. Right now you can use it on the Beta. Basically, you can use Google Authentication and GitHub Authentication for sign in. But first, you should link your SSO account on the user profile page.
Once that’s done, you should be able to use the “Sign in with …” buttons to log in to Checkvist.
And here come the questions.
Did it go smoothly when you tried it? Would you use it? Do you consider it useful? Do you think we need to add other SSO providers, while we’re at it?
Immediate answer from me is that given what is happening on X/Twitter it may be useful for those who no longer want that account to be tied to their activity online using their API. I myself have already made the switch to the Google Sign In.
I love that you have Discord as an option. I can see opportunities for second-hand collaboration on project lists. Makes me wonder about the Social Aspects of Checkvists as most of the SSO are more social exception being Github. Wondering how I can make the most of Discord SSO. Just you asking has me thinking about it. Thanks!
Tested both:
Github login: immediate
Gmail login: had to select my email (maybe it’s because I have 2 gmails).
Anyways, both were flawless, tested on mobile android (Pixel 8 pro with beta.checkvist.com) and on my desktop pc (with google chrome). It’s much appreciated muah muah.
As for if I consider it useful, definitly, less things to type and more security. Do I think there is need for more SSO, yes if it doesn’t costs more money, otherwise no.
Additional notes, I tend to open 3-4 tabs of checkvist and I tend to let them there all day long. I can’t help but to think a sort of suspend on inactivity (1 hour) and click to resume sync might save some amount of ressources.
